Santorini Airport (JTR)
The airport sits near Kamari on the east side, about 15 minutes from Fira. Taxis, buses and rental desks are all directly outside arrivals.

Athinios Port
All ferries dock at Athinios, on the caldera cliff south of Fira. The road out is a steep switchback, and when several ferries land together it gets chaotic.

Local tip
Ferries and flights arrive in clusters, so everyone hits the taxi rank at the same moment. If you arrive in the evening in July or August, pre-book — otherwise you can wait an hour with your bags.

Your Own Wheels
Rent a car
A transfer covers your arrival, but for beach days and exploring the villages, having your own wheels makes Santorini far easier. A car gives you the freedom to reach Perissa and Perivolos, the traditional villages like Pyrgos and Megalochori, and the quieter corners most people miss — all on your own schedule.
Book early, especially in summer. Cars get snapped up fast in peak season (July–September), so reserve ahead rather than hoping to sort it on arrival.
